i am researching my family tree - William Harris and Harriett nee Sweet were married at Merriott but lived to raise 8 children there. however William died after 4 years and the parenthood of the next 5 children is not known. Can you help??? my grandad Napper Harris was the 7 child born 1888 but left at some stage for Stoke on tent - any light you can shed on this very welcome. are there still Harris folk in Lopen or area? certainly Walt Harris died in 2000, buried with his M+F - did he have a wife? what was his job? does he leave other Harrises in the area to tend his new smart grave at All Saints. all inklings will be warmly received Colin and Sheila Harris - visited 13 MArch 2016

Hello Lopen. I lived in Lopen from the age of 5 until 16, leaving in 1962. My name then was ANN FRANCIS and I lived with my parents and sisters Lesley and Maxine in School House. I attended Ilminster Girls' Grammar School from 1957 until I left Somerset in 1962. I would love to hear from anyone who might remember me. Although I have lived in Wales for about 45 years, I still consider myself to be a 'Somerset Girl' and am nostalgic about the Somerset I remember. Anna

Hello from Australia - my great, great, great grandfather James Thomas married Ann Chick at All Saints in 1814 and raised his family in Lopen and then Crewkerne. He was a master carpenter. His son (also James) came to Australia in 1852. I would love to visit your village. Congratulations on your website. Regards Helen

A fresh start. Hopefully it will not be too long before the site grows into a snapshot of our village and a useful tool.
